I thought the video was neat. Blogging helps students get more comfortable with each other. Also knowing how everyone else feels about class helps out a lot, chances are if you are confused then someone else in the class is as well and you can work together to figure it out.
I completely agree. It's often intimidating to ask questions when you're in a class with a lot of students. Blogging is a great way to clarify things after class.
As emily said this allows us to get more comfortable with one another and also. I feel some students maybe a little shy when it comes to face to face conversations. And if they are having a question they would not be sure how to say it. This also helps us get an understanding of each other and we are all on the same page.
This is my first time having a class that required blogging, and my first time blogging in general, but I think it is a very good way of communication as you all said and I'm excited to have it in this class. Even though I do not like to speak up in class, I still feel engaged because of this blog.
I am one of the students that will probley not speak out during class. The main reason is because i feel more comfortable knowing the subject matter thoroughly before i give a respone or answer. So, through blogging i can take what i learn during class and read what our other class mates post on the blog and get a better understanding of our material. This in turn makes me more comfortable to discuss our class topics because i have better knowledge and won't be answering something wrong in class.
I as well have never blogged for a class before so I am finding this way of communication to be very interesting. It does help us to get to know each other without the pressure that some may feel during face to face communication. I think it can be very beneficial for high school aged students as well.
It also helps ME get to know all of YOU better as well. It's a great way for me to better hear from you, know what you're thinking and to hear your ideas, questions and thoughts. I really love how students connect with one another which is a critical part of developing a great class climate.
I agree, I have never blogged before in my life. But I'm starting to get the hang of it. I like how you can hear from everyone, its like even though you may not know anyone in the class you still learn things about one another.
I agree, some students do not like talking in front of people, but blogging allows them to ask questions in a non threatening environment. They can have their voice even though they do not enjoy talking. I like the use of blogging.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely. This resource really frees us up to ask questions and get a feel about how the class feels on different subjects.
