The Elements of Language

In this chapter we learned five elements of language. Phonology, the first of the form elements of language, is the study of the sound system of language. Morphology, is the study of words and how they are formed. Syntax, is the study of the rules that govern how words are put together to make phrases and sentences. Semantics, is the study of the meaning of words. Pragmatics is the use of language for communication, they include the study of the rules that govern the use of language for social interaction.
