Question 3 on our test talks about communicative intent. I have really thought about it, but I can't seem to grasp what that means or what I need to give as an answer for that question. Can anyone explain what that means without giving me an answer.
The question is looking for an explanation as to why Johnny would be repeating the things he is. In class, she talked about the "brown marker or black marker" senario and how it related to the communication skills of the child.
Jessica is exactly right. I went over this in class as I was interacting with Kesha and the marker scenario. I also talked about Rain Man, the movie. I used the scenario of "Bus 169, 3:00." There is more information on page 167 as to how there are different communicative intents for each of these different statements being made by individuals who have autism.
Thank you for posting this question. I really thought I understood echolalia but this question just really threw me for a loop. Maybe it was the wording! I forgot this was in the book and now I know exactly what I'm doing again! All I needed was a page number. :)
I don't understand that one either.
